Excelsior Lofts Renovations
This loft renovation was in the historic downtown warehouse district of Edmonton, the building itself was converted into condominiums in 1996.
The goal of this renovation was to convert two separate lofts into one unit, bringing the industrial aesthetics of the building into the units and updating it to a more modern sophisticated and industrial style.
With the kitchen being the heart of the home and the main entertaining space, we wanted to allow for a larger space with ample traffic flow with the ease of function. So we were given free rein to create a design that suits the space and meets the client’s wishes. With the help of an engineer, we removed a wall to open up the area, changed the kitchen design from L shape to a more linear shape featuring Black cabinets paired with brass hardware and lighting.
The new island needs to support the height of the 6’ tall client so we designed it with two teared countertops for added height and a layered waterfall of walnut caribou countertop paired with white silestone layer of quartz. We also added one seamless piece of Silestone quartz for the backsplash, for ease of cleaning and to soften the look.
Both entire suites were gutted down and renovated, please take a tour and let us know what you think
